It was wonderful to see so many families at conferences yesterday and today! Please help us give a warm welcome to Ms. Knox our student teacher who will be joining us until December 8th.  This week students wrote their first science quiz! We began our math addition stations, learned a new math game with our student teacher Ms. Knox, and took some time to review and practice some basics of writing (morphology and spelling) as well as begin their research writing on an animal of their choosing.  Lazer Tag Reading Draw for this month will be next week, so make sure all reading forms come in soon!

This (short) week in grade 4 students were introduced to their math stations, and had some time to explore the different work that they will be doing at each. Students also began the revision process in writing to their house for sale paragraphs. In science, students began creating their "cheat sheet" for their upcoming science quiz on November 22nd. Students will be able to print these out and bring them with them to the quiz that day.  A reminder that parent conferences are coming up next week on Thursday and Friday. I'd love to see everyone attend to talk about your students learning. If there is not a time that works for you, please email me and we can always try to make another day/time work! Costumes were amazing :) Congratulations to our voracious readers and awesome 5 students who won our reading draw for the month of October! Enjoy your two free games of lazer tag! Students had time to continue to finish their math quiz on place value, then we dove into learning some different strategies for solving addition problems. In writing we finalized out House For Sale and some students began recording their performance of In Flanders Fields for the Remembrance Day Assembly. We continued our week in science talking about our decomposing pumpkin Frank, and looked at waste management and the big word of consumerism and its contributions to waste in our world!  Due to staffing Alien Inline has had to reschedule our final skate day... please keep posted as to when!
