November 3rd Update



Happy November!

This week students enjoyed the festivities that came with Tuesday! Costumes were amazing :) Congratulations to our voracious readers and awesome 5 students who won our reading draw for the month of October! Enjoy your two free games of lazer tag!

Students had time to continue to finish their math quiz on place value, then we dove into learning some different strategies for solving addition problems. In writing we finalized out House For Sale and some students began recording their performance of In Flanders Fields for the Remembrance Day Assembly. We continued our week in science talking about our decomposing pumpkin Frank, and looked at waste management and the big word of consumerism and its contributions to waste in our world! 

Due to staffing Alien Inline has had to reschedule our final skate day... please keep posted as to when!

*If any families are wanting me to keep their orders a secret as they may be for holiday gifts, please just shoot me an email and I will let you know when they come in so you can pick them up at the school!

Welcome Back to Another Great Year!

Welcome back EMJ families! I am so excited to welcome in a new group of grade 4's this year into my room this year, it's going to be wonderful. A few things to note for the beginning of the year! - Grade 4's will enter through the main front doors of the school each day! Beginning Tuesday September 5th Division 2 will be beginning soft entry, the main doors to the school will open for students to make there way to their classes at 7:55am. There will be no need to line up and wait for me outside. - I will be posting weekly updates here on the blog, please make sure to check these out as there can be important information being shared! - All students will have access to our Google Classroom, they will use their EDUCBE emails and passwords to access. Google Classroom is where students will find certain assignments, as well as resource website to help in class or at home with additional practices. September 15th Update

Yay! We made it through the first official 5 day school week of the year! Students will probably be a little extra tired this weekend, so much learning to absorb this week. This week, students began to explore data collection through pictographs, began their exploration of the diverse landscapes in Alberta and continued to build their writing brains back up from the summer. Students also had their first library visit of the year, pease be sure if your student likes to bring their school books home that they come back every Tuesday (our library day) to be renewed and/or exchanged.  Upcoming dates: - School Pictures Tuesday September 19th - September 21st 4:00-7:30pm Meet the Teacher - September 22nd No School for Students (NID) - September 27th Terry Fox Run One of the goals of observing the life of Terry Fox and participating in this Canada-wide event is to raise money for the Terry Fox Foundation.  The run demonstrates generosity and determination of those who participate in it.  ‘Too

  Happy Friday! It was wonderful to see so many amazing families last night for the Meet the Teacher Open House.  This week students began their look into bar graphs in math, did an in depth review of nouns and verbs in writing and began learning about the different types of waste we have in our world (and our school) in science. Students gave their best smiles on Tuesday for picture day, I cant wait to send the prints home when we receive them! Please remember that there is no school next Friday September 29th for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.  ** We are in need of volunteers for our field trips this upcoming year with our first one coming up in October. You will need a police clearance form in order to volunteer. Please email me ASAP if you are able to help us this year!
