May 31st

 Happy Last Day of May! We are now in the home stretch of the year! With only 19 school days left until the final day June 27th. Students this week finished reading James and the Giant Peach, and their matchbook summaries are due next week. Students began talking about the passage of time, and using analog clocks. Grade 4's also set out their presentation schedule for their science presentations this week. Important Dates Coming Up: -All library books due back next week ASAP! This is extremely important, especially if you will not be at EMJ next year! -Last day to order scholastic books is Monday June 3rd! -Zoo Trip with Buddies June 17th! Forms to come home soon -National Indigenous People's Day June 21st -Last day of school June 27th (12:15 dismissal) -Activity Day June 27th

May 24th

  Students this week wrapped up their math olympics and measurement in non-standard units. Gave an amazing final push with working on their science group presentations, and James and the Giant Peach Matchbooks. Grade 4's also revisited evidence based writing with "Who would win" battles in the classroom!  Happy Long Weekend! Grade 4's this week continued to dive into their group presentations on water, talked about different measurements to prepare ourselves for our Math Olympics, and learned about Limerick poems after reading James and the Giant Peach!

 Happy Mother's Day Weekend! I hope everyone enjoys the beautiful weather we are going to have. This week grade 4's continued learning about their Earth systems, focusing on water. We continued a new poem the Clerihew, made it almost halfway in James and the Giant Peach, and moved into our measurement unit in math. May 3rd

 Happy Friday! This week students ventured into our earth's different spheres, looking closely at the Lithosphere! They explored transformations in math that including translations (slides), rotations and reflections along the cartesian plane. Continuing on with our class novel James and the Giant Peach, students can now see what chapters we are reading each day, so they are able to catch up when absent in Google Classroom. A copy of the novel is also available there. Students channelled their thoughts of Spring into some poetry and had a blast in gym preparing for mission impossible next week! Upcoming Dates and Due Dates: - Monday, May 6th Student Good Copies of Haiku, Tanka and Cinquain Poetry Due, it is homework if it did not get completed in class. -May 23rd School Dance
