 Wow it feels like the months have just flown by!

This week grade 4's began editing and revising their short stories. Continued their explorations of space by looking at the different moons in our solar system, and Alberta as well as took a look into estimation and rounding in math. 

If your student was absent last week and did not get the at-home reading sheet and letter please let me know and I can send them home virtually to you or you can access them in Google Classroom here.


Important Dates Coming up!

- Please make sure your students read for 20-30 minutes at home each day. Reading logs will be checked on Fridays!

- February 28th Pink Shirt Day

- Multiplication and Division Quiz Thursday February 29th 

- Fort Calgary Field Trip March 12th 

- March 21st Parent Teacher Conferences: 4:00pm-7:30pm and March 22nd Parent Teacher Conferences: 8:00am-1:00pm. Booking time preferences sent home Thursday on bright PINK forms, please fill out and return in one week so I can put together a schedule that works for everyone prior to bookings opening later in March!!

Welcome Back to Another Great Year!

Welcome back EMJ families! I am so excited to welcome in a new group of grade 4's this year into my room this year, it's going to be wonderful. A few things to note for the beginning of the year! - Grade 4's will enter through the main front doors of the school each day! Beginning Tuesday September 5th Division 2 will be beginning soft entry, the main doors to the school will open for students to make there way to their classes at 7:55am. There will be no need to line up and wait for me outside. - I will be posting weekly updates here on the blog, please make sure to check these out as there can be important information being shared! - All students will have access to our Google Classroom, they will use their EDUCBE emails and passwords to access. Google Classroom is where students will find certain assignments, as well as resource website to help in class or at home with additional practices. September 15th Update

Yay! We made it through the first official 5 day school week of the year! Students will probably be a little extra tired this weekend, so much learning to absorb this week. This week, students began to explore data collection through pictographs, began their exploration of the diverse landscapes in Alberta and continued to build their writing brains back up from the summer. Students also had their first library visit of the year, pease be sure if your student likes to bring their school books home that they come back every Tuesday (our library day) to be renewed and/or exchanged.  Upcoming dates: - School Pictures Tuesday September 19th - September 21st 4:00-7:30pm Meet the Teacher - September 22nd No School for Students (NID) - September 27th Terry Fox Run One of the goals of observing the life of Terry Fox and participating in this Canada-wide event is to raise money for the Terry Fox Foundation.  The run demonstrates generosity and determination of those who participate in it.  ‘Too

  Happy Friday! It was wonderful to see so many amazing families last night for the Meet the Teacher Open House.  This week students began their look into bar graphs in math, did an in depth review of nouns and verbs in writing and began learning about the different types of waste we have in our world (and our school) in science. Students gave their best smiles on Tuesday for picture day, I cant wait to send the prints home when we receive them! Please remember that there is no school next Friday September 29th for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.  ** We are in need of volunteers for our field trips this upcoming year with our first one coming up in October. You will need a police clearance form in order to volunteer. Please email me ASAP if you are able to help us this year!
