Happy March!

Hopefully, this is our last cold spell before Spring. (Fingers Crossed!!!)

This week grade 4's worked on finalizing their short stories (due Monday.) Reviewed their knowledge of multiplication and division in preparation for the quiz they wrote on Thursday. In science, students put together the finishing touches on their moon research and will begin presentations on Monday! 

Thank you to all parents who returned their choices for parent conferences in 3 weeks. You will begin to see the schedule in your email soon, and I will send confirmations home with students closer to! Parents who did not return the forms will still be able to book their own conference time, however, the selections will be limited as I am pre-booking families. 

Upcoming Dates:

- Moon Presentations begin March 4th, Students who have not finished their slideshows need to complete them for homework before Monday!

- Short Story Good Copies due March 6th. There will be scheduled class time to complete, and students who are not finished are encouraged to use their free time or work on the stories at home. 

- Fort Calgary Field Trip March 12th

- Parent Conferences March 21st (evening) -22nd (morning)

- No School for students on March 22nd

- Spring Break March 22nd-April1st (First day back is April 2nd)

Welcome Back to Another Great Year!

Welcome back EMJ families! I am so excited to welcome in a new group of grade 4's this year into my room this year, it's going to be wonderful. A few things to note for the beginning of the year! - Grade 4's will enter through the main front doors of the school each day! Beginning Tuesday September 5th Division 2 will be beginning soft entry, the main doors to the school will open for students to make there way to their classes at 7:55am. There will be no need to line up and wait for me outside. - I will be posting weekly updates here on the blog, please make sure to check these out as there can be important information being shared! - All students will have access to our Google Classroom, they will use their EDUCBE emails and passwords to access. Google Classroom is where students will find certain assignments, as well as resource website to help in class or at home with additional practices. September 15th Update

Yay! We made it through the first official 5 day school week of the year! Students will probably be a little extra tired this weekend, so much learning to absorb this week. This week, students began to explore data collection through pictographs, began their exploration of the diverse landscapes in Alberta and continued to build their writing brains back up from the summer. Students also had their first library visit of the year, pease be sure if your student likes to bring their school books home that they come back every Tuesday (our library day) to be renewed and/or exchanged.  Upcoming dates: - School Pictures Tuesday September 19th - September 21st 4:00-7:30pm Meet the Teacher - September 22nd No School for Students (NID) - September 27th Terry Fox Run One of the goals of observing the life of Terry Fox and participating in this Canada-wide event is to raise money for the Terry Fox Foundation.  The run demonstrates generosity and determination of those who participate in it.  ‘Too

  Happy Friday! It was wonderful to see so many amazing families last night for the Meet the Teacher Open House.  This week students began their look into bar graphs in math, did an in depth review of nouns and verbs in writing and began learning about the different types of waste we have in our world (and our school) in science. Students gave their best smiles on Tuesday for picture day, I cant wait to send the prints home when we receive them! Please remember that there is no school next Friday September 29th for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.  ** We are in need of volunteers for our field trips this upcoming year with our first one coming up in October. You will need a police clearance form in order to volunteer. Please email me ASAP if you are able to help us this year!
